Heart disease prevention clinic
People with high blood pressure or a strong family history of heart disease are given comprehensive check-ups. Blood cholesterol check-ups are also arranged.
Respiratory (asthma and COPD) clinic
We encourage all our asthma and COPD patients to understand their disease and their treatment. They are also taught how to monitor their well-being at home by the use of a peak flow meter (a simple device to record breathing). Spirometry is also performed regularly to check patient lung function. Please speak to reception to make an appointment with the asthma nurse or the doctor.
Diabetic clinic
To prevent complications due to diabetes, patients need regular check-ups and advice from experienced nurses and doctors. At this clinic, all your queries are answered and all necessary check-ups are done to prevent long-term complications. Please speak to reception to make an appointment with a nurse or doctor.
Maternity services
Full antenatal care and post-natal care, including home visits a doctor, is available. Please make an early appointment for your pregnancy needs and inform the surgery immediately upon returning home after confinement.
Family planning
A comprehensive contraception service is available within normal surgery times. Please ring for an appointment.
Weight reduction clinic
We encourage prevention of disease by healthy eating habits. Simple modification to your diet and lifestyle can give years of disease-free life. Please speak to reception to make an appointment with the nurse.
Smoking cessation clinic
We encourage patients to give up smoking and offer full support and advice during a six-week planned programme. Please see the nurse for details.
Travel immunisations
We offer a full range of travel immunisations and encourage proper immunisation cover before overseas travel. Please speak to reception for details.
Cervical screening
Cervical screening is offered to all women aged 25 to 64 to check the health of cells in the cervix. It is offered routinely every 5 years for those aged 25 to 64. More information on cervical screening can be found here.

Bowel cancer screening
Everyone aged 60 to 74 is offered a bowel cancer screening home test kit every 2 years. If you’re 75 or over, you can ask for a kit every 2 years by phoning the free bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 60 60. More information on bowel cancer screening can be found here.
Breast screening
Breast screening is offered to women aged 50 to 70 to detect early signs of breast cancer. Women over 70 can self-refer. More information on breast screening can be found here.
Non-NHS services
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include:
- medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV, etc.)
- insurance claim forms
- passport signing
- prescriptions for taking medication abroad
- private sick notes
- vaccination certificates
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
